Kogi East Senate: Court Begins Hearing of Aidoko’s N1 Billion Suit Against Malami Feb 7
The 1 Billion Naira suit instituted
against the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami SAN by
Senator Atai Aidoko Ali has been fixed till February 7, 2018 for
commencement of the substantive hearing.
Aidoko, representing Kogi East,
instituted the legal proceeding challenging to request, via a secret
memo written to INEC, by Malami directing the electoral body to
revalidate the APC senate candidate, Abdulrahman Abubakar and
simultaneously withdraw the certificate of return issued to Aidoko.
At the commencement of the hearing,
presiding judge, Binta Nyanko ordered interested parties to file their
process indicating interest. The case has been adjourned twice to
enable parties comply.
Few months ago, Malami resorted to using extra-judicial arrangement to return Abubakar back to the Senate.
The electoral body has earlier turned
down the subtle request by the AGF saying it negates the democratic
procedures and against the rule of law.
